My Party Season Must Haves

The day is nearly upon us! These are a selection of my must have items to get me through the party season, whether it's going out on Christmas Eve or NYE, or for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Lancome Idole Ultra 24h Foundation
This foundation is probably the most expensive I have ever owned, but it's worth every penny. I recently went up to a Lancome counter and said I was looking for a longwearing, matte foundation with medium to buildable coverage. This is great as you can go from working all day to partying all night without having to reapply which is why I think this is such a must have for the party season. It's also fantastic at hiding the signs of partied-out skin the next day.

Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Sparkling Silver
I bought this a couple of months ago ready for the party season. It adds a touch of glamour to any eye look without looking overdone. This looks great both applied neatly and smudged. I will be wearing this on nights out over the next couple of weeks as I think it looks great and can easily turn any day look into a night look.

Lipcote Lipstick Sealant
I would say this is an essential of mine all year round and I use it every day. This is great to make any lipstick last for hours. If you are like me and love wearing red lipstick around the festive period, I recommend you try this.

I hope you all have a great Christmas!

No7 Eyeshadow Palette Review

First I would like to apologise for not posting for a while. I have been working full time and also been applying for jobs and getting ready for Christmas. Now onto the review.

I was in Boots doing some Christmas shopping and I spotted this. It's the biggest palette I have ever seen so I wouldn't recommend it for travel. There are 20 shades in this palette which include a perfect crease colour and a perfect highlight colour. There is a fairly even mixture between shimmery shades and mattes. The colour scheme is neutral and includes mainly browns, silvers and pale pinks. The shadows are really pigmented, but they do crease so I would recommend a primer as they are not as long lasting and crease proof as Clinique shadows. I went back and bought one of these for my mother because she uses No7 and I know she would use all these colours.

Available at larger Boots stores at £20.

November Favourites

Can you even believe that it's already December? I am already so giddy for Christmas! Here are my favourite products of November.

First up is Real Techniques Complexion Sponge. I didn't have high expectations from this as I thought surely a sponge is just a sponge. No. I was wrong. The different sides and points to this sponge allows you to do every part of your face. This blends in foundation and concealer so well and doesn't leave any streaky lines, and also makes the foundation set quickly, so you can apply powder as soon as you've done. The only downside to this sponge is that when you have cleaned it, it takes forever to dry, so I have two so I always have a clean one to hand. £6.99 Boots

Another Real Techniques product I have been loving this month is the Shader Brush. This is perfect for defining the crease and also blending out eyeshadow. When I want a simple, natural look, I just sweep light matte brown eyeshadow into my crease. £7.99 Boots

How could I not mention the Nails Inc Alexa Chung Xmas Set?! I picked this up at Harvey Nichols Xmas Beauty Event and I am so glad I did. I have enjoyed trying out these colours and mixing them with the different effects. My favourite shade would probably be the dark blue shade. If you would like to see photos of the nail looks I have created please let me know.

What have been your must have products this month?

My Favourite Soap & Glory Body Moisturisers

First I would like to apologise my lack of posts over the past few weeks, I've been job hunting which is taking up a lot of my time when I get home from work.

Now on to the good stuff, you will recognise one of these from my October monthly favourites but it's so good I may as well mention it twice.

This is the Moisture Yourself Lotion. This has an amazing, long lasting fruity scent. I use this when I've had a lovely bath and want to finish it off nicely.

First there is The Righteous Butter. This has the traditional pink scent. When I use this at night, I wake up the next day and my skin still feels amazing. I would recommend this for really dry skin and I only use this when I am putting my pyjamas on after, as this would not go well with tight clothing.
Next is the Sugar Crush Body Butter. Oh MY GOSH THE SMELLLLLL!!! This has a Sweet Lime scent, it reminds me of Key Lime Pie. When I use this I can't stop smelling my skin afterwards, it is mouthwatering.

If you have any Soap & Glory products you think I would like, please let me know

My Tips For Great Skin

The other day I thought it would be a good idea to post some skin care tips, so here they are.
  • Drink plently of water
  • Try to get a good night's sleep
  • Don't sleep in make up
  • Cleanse, tone and moisture twice a day, I would recommend L'occitane Imortelle Toner and Avon Anew Deep Night Cream
  • Use masks and scrubs on a weekly basis
  • If all else fails, reach for Mac ProLongwear Concealer

Brushes Haul

I decided I needed some more make up brushes, and Boots had them on 3 for 2. Perfect!

EcoTools 5 Piece Fresh and Flawless set £11.99

I can't believe the value of this set! I've been wanting a buffing concealer brush for ages which is what drew me to this set. I love the design on the brushes and I think this set will be great for travel as it includes every face brush you will need. This includes a flat concealer brush, buffing concealer brush, precision foundation brush, complexion blending brush and full powder brush.

EcoTools Tapered Blusher Brush £7.99

This brush is bigger than what I would usually go for when it comes to blusher brushes but it is tapered and is so soft.

Real Techniques Eye Shading Brush £7.99

Another brush I have been needing for ages. This is a great size and "fluffiness" for blending in the crease, an essential brush for any eye look.

If you would like to see any reviews please let me know

Avon Haul

Am I addicted to Avon? Possibly.

Christian Lacrioux Ambre, ANEW Clinical Night Cream, Avon Make Up Setting Spray

Avon Eyeshadow Duo in Enchanted Forest, Avon Lipstick in Soft Coral, Avon MagiX Illuminator, Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner in Black Ice

Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Black Ice: I was expecting more sparkle, as it just looks like an ordinary black eyeliner. I have ordered a few more to see if they are all the same.
Soft Coral Lipstick: I would describe this as a glossy tangerine shade, these lipsticks smell amazing but because the lipstick isn't mega matte it bleeds slightly

Real Techniques Face Sponge Review

Firstly I just want to tell you all I have reached 1000 views, thank you everyone! This review is about the Real Techniques Face Sponge. I have wanted this for the longest time and they were in stock in my local Boots store so I picked one up. I have never used any Real Techniques before so I didn't know what to expect when it comes to quality.

You can use this sponge either damp or dry, and I have been using it damp. I thought it would make my foundation and concealer seem runny, but it didn't. This blends in make up so beautifully and there are no stripes or marks left in the foundation. I found this very easy to use so if you are new to applying foundation and concealer or contouring I would recommend. This sponge has loads of different angles for different areas of the face.

I can't wait to try Real Techniques brushes and I plan to buy some within the New Year.

Harvey Nichols Beauty Event 11/11/14

Yesterday I attended Harvey Nichols Beauty Event. I went to my first one last year and loved it and just had to go again. I went to the Leeds Harvey Nichols as that is the nearest one to Sheffield. Tickets cost £10 and you recieve a "goody bag" at the end. I forgot to pack my camera as I was runnng slightly late so I don't have any pictures of the event.

Alexa Stars, Alexa Hearts, Alex Edit Night Sky, Alexa Holographic, Alexa Edit Winter Lilac, Alexa Cashmere Pink

This collection also come with a make up case and
 a nail file

These were the samples I recieved. La Coupe Colour Rescue Shampoo & Conditioner, Elemis Spa At Home Tranquil Touch Body Polish, Valentino UOMO, Dr Hauschka Almond Soothing Bath Essence, Prada Infusion D'Iris

Laura Mercier Body Souffle Review

I have finally got my hands on the Laura Mercier Body Souffle Set (Harvey Nichols £45.00). If you like luxurious body products or know someone who does, this is perfect.

Before I had even took the set out of the parcel, I could smell them. They do have strong scents to them which would work great layered with similar scents or other Laura Mercier products. They tend to be quite sweet scents. I would use these after a bath or shower before a night out, meal or special occasion. They are so moisurising and feel so great on the skin, you can feel the quality. They aren't something I would use every day as they are expensive but they are great to use when you want to feel special.
The scents included are Creme de Pistache, Creme Brulee, Almond and Vanille, Fresh Fig, Tarte Au Citron and Ambre Vanille.
This set makes such a great Christmas gift as it is so luxurious and there are so many different scents in this collection. There are also other products in the scent ranges which you could use to layer with these Body Souffles.

L'occitane Hand and Foot Cream Review

Today's review is on L'occitane's Shea Hand and Foot Cream. If you are a regular fan of my blog you will know I am obsessed with L'occitane. I have heard amazing things about these two products and in September I decided to try them.

The hand cream is very rich but it sinks into the skin so well. I hate hand creams that leave a layer on the skin and I have to wipe the residue from my hands. This hand cream has a very slight smell that doesn't interfere with any scented body lotion or perfume you may have used. I found this did leave my hands very nourished for hours. I have very dry, ezcema prone hands and I thought this worked very well and didn't irritate my skin.

I looooooove this foot cream! I am the kind of person that always forgets to use foot cream on a regular basis, and if I'm honest I'm not a fan of using foot creams as I don't like the feeling of them on my hands when I'm applying it. Sometimes, I apply a thick layer and put some fluffy socks on before I go to bed. It works a treat. I never forget to use this as it is a pleasure to use because it rubs in so well and it has a lovely, natural lavender scent. I hate cheap, synthetic smelling lavender scents but this smells so natural and left my feet feeling very soft.

This duo is available at £38 for 150ml tubes or £19 each

October Favourites

It's November, time to start Christmas shopping! Here are my favourite products from October.

Schwarzkopf Heat Protection Spray: I was really surprised at this product because for the price, it is amazing! It smells fantastic and the fine spray covers your whole hair so you know every section is protected. Available at Boots for £4.07

Soap & Glory Moisure Lotion: I have had this product for a few months but only used it a couple of weeks ago. It smells so fruity so anyone who doesn't like the original pink scent would love this. This lotion sinks into the skin so well but it is so hydrating. Great for this time of year as winter really dries out the skin. Available at Boots at £10

Avon Mystique Shower Creme: I have been using this product on and off for years but I only recently repurchased it. The smell is so sensual, if you are a fan of heady scents you will love this. I find this very relaxing and the scent lingers on the skin and this creme doesn't dry my skin out. Available at Avon

Bourjois 123 CC Cream: This is the first CC Cream I have ever used and I am highly impressed. I expected a CC Cream to give low coverage but this product is high coverage, This gives a lovely luminous finish to the skin. If all CC Creams are like this, then I want to try them all. Available at Superdrug for £9.99

Avon Lipstix: These are my latest obsession! I can't wait to try out more shades of these. I currently have Foxy Fushia and All Fired Up. I thought these would be more like a balm and would maybe bleed over the lips, but they are so pigmented and the colour stays so well. Available at Avon at £4.50 each

Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown: I use this over my normal brow powder just to set everything in place and give my eyebrows a groomed look. When I use this my eyebrows do not budge all day and if I use this in the morning I don't need to go over them if I go out at night. I have slept with this on before just to see how well it worked and my eyebrows looked just as good that morning as they did the morning before. However, this is fairly easy to remove, I would recommend Boots Essentials Fragrance Free Eye Make up Remover. Available at Superdrug for £4.99

Review Under £5: Touch Of Silver Shampoo & Conditioner

I've only been using Touch of Silver Twice a Week Brightening Shampoo and Daily Nourishing Conditioner for 2 weeks as I recently had my hair highlighted.

I was quite surprised when I first used these as they smell amazing. I expected them to smell chemically but they smell great. The shampoo gets rid of warm tones in the hair and the conditioner left my hair feeling soft and nourished.

The shampoo costs £3.09 for 150ml and the conditioner costs £2.09 for 200ml

OPI Coca-Cola Nail Laquer Collection Review

Some of you my remember my post in my Duty Free Haul. It has took me ages to try out all the colours as I got 4-6 days wear from each shade without use of a topcoat. I have loved trying out all these shades as some of them aren't colours that I would have picked for myself. This collection has shades suitable for all seasons and all occasions.

You're So Vainilla - A lovely pale nude. I think this sahde would look great on olive/dark skin tones

Turn On The Haute Light - A metallic silver. This reminded me of Nails Inc Foil polishes which I also love. I can't wait to wear this shade during the festive season.

Sorry I'm Fizzy Today - A beautiful pinky coral shade. I have quite a few shades like this as I love wearing colours like this in the summer.

Coca-Cola Red - A true red shade. Looks amazing all year round and will suit any skin tone.

Get Cherried Away - A great medium purple. At first, I wasn;t sure if I would like this shade, but as soon as I put it on I fell in love with it and it is a good autumnal colour.

Today I Accomplished Zero - Black with red glitter. This was the shade that made me want this set. I have never seen anything like it and couldn't wait to try it.

I am very happy with this set and thought it was amazing value at £16 for 6 x 3.75ml bottles. This is a travel exclusive so if you are in an airport anytime soon you should pick it up! I will be keeping my eye on O.P.I for more sets like this.

Soap & Glory Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion Review

I love Soap & Glory. I love the names of the products, the scents, and how the products work. Recently I have been using Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion, which is £10.00 for 500ml at Boots.

The first thing I noticed about this lotion is the smell. It is so fruity! It doesn't have a cheap fruity type of scent, but a mouth watering, lucious scent. This product also has an amazing texture, it is just the right consistency, it isn't too thin that your skin doesn't feel a moisture boost, but it isn't too thick that it doesn't sink it quickly. I used to love the Sugar Crush Body Cream with the sweet line fragrance and thought nothing could top it, but this is coming close.

I would buy this again as I feel like it would give my skin a well needed boost of moisture in the cold months.

If you would like to see any more Soap and Glory reviews, please let me know.

Avon Lipsticks Haul

I felt like I needed more lipsticks (I know I really don't) so I ordered 8 from Avon (oops!).

First up, are the Lipstix. They are really pigmented and the formula stays inside the lip line, as I find some products similar to this bleed a lot, but this product lasted well and looked great. They have a semi matte/matte finish. I would buy more of these.

Foxy Fushia and All Fired Up

Next up are the Kiss 'n' Go Lipsticks. These are sheer but can be built up without feeling like you have too much product on your lips. There are 9 colours in the collection and I love the variety. These  lipsticks lasted well and I will at some point be getting the other colours in the collection.
L-R: Deluxe, Lucky Kiss, Amethyst, Poppy Love, Passion, Flirt.
